I stayed in spring, and outside old town I didn't encounter many tourists at all. The city was beautiful. I would recommend it for foodies, most things were very tasty and the prices weren't crazy high. Overall, a nice place to visit.

It used to be a nice city for nomads, but its out-priced now and don't recommend it. I am a single female- remote worker from USA with residence permit of 2 years and have to say its not what it used to be. Stormy tropical weather as we speak so unpredictable these days. This city is not for everyone, if you like shopping malls and big crowded cities it is for you. It may be cheap but if you want to live in a good location with swimming pool, go to nice rooftops and restaurants, use taxis then it is similar cost to western countries. In many areas there are no sidewalks, big and dangerous traffic all the time, pollution, taxis do not want to go with meter, it can get really hot. Definitely try to live by the metro. It is more expensve than expected. Depending whete you live, streets can be dirty. It seems the government only uses the tax money to invest in the high en areas. Thwre are is a lot of inequality. People are very racist. I am Mexican, and the first thing people ask me here, is whete do I come from. I have never felt as discriminated as here and to be honest I dont think I have it as bad as other people.

I loved this city! We stayed for one week, but could easily stay longer. What I love about this city is its beauty, walk ability and convenience to other places such as Germany, Switzerland and other parts of France, just to name a few. It’s a big, little city. It has an airport as well, for when you want to go further. The cost for groceries were not any different than other parts of France or Germany. There are many students here and a rich culture of Alsatian, German and French culture

Co-working spaces tend to not allow taking calls frequently at your desk. I tried many of the highest rated ones in Montpellier and was told that people expect quiet focus and calls need to be done in phone booths or in the corridors. No one uses noise cancelling headphones. Not ideal if your job requires lots of meetings/phone calls. I've ended up working from home.
