I am reporting from Istanbul. The prices shown here are much lower than the current prices in Istanbul. (Prices are constantly increasing due to high inflation) For example, 1 beer costs $2 in markets, not in cafes! In cafes it is 4$ - also dinner is said to be 4$, but you can only eat a toasted bread for this money. To get an idea, a main course and a drink is at least $10.

It is more expensve than expected. Depending whete you live, streets can be dirty. It seems the government only uses the tax money to invest in the high en areas. Thwre are is a lot of inequality. People are very racist. I am Mexican, and the first thing people ask me here, is whete do I come from. I have never felt as discriminated as here and to be honest I dont think I have it as bad as other people.

Don't let yourself be discouraged by the reviews here! Most of them are untrue and very negative and actually they made me skip Santiago in 2022. Been living here for few months and absolutely love it. Chosen to live near the sea and can go on walks on the beach when fancy it as well as enjoying a - small - but animated city center from time to time. If you search a little you can find restaurant Jems and go very easily to some cute places around such as Howth, Malahide and others.
